About Benjamin

Prior to starting his own firm, Mr. Rothermel worked for a boutique Intellectual Property law firm in Northern Virginia. He drafted, revised, and prosecuted patent applications in various industries and disciplines - including materials science, chemistry, physics, biotechnology, green technology, telecommunications, electrical engineering, consumer electronics, and mechanical engineering. 

He has experience managing a client portfolio of over 500 patents and patent applications, conducting infringement analysis, validity, freedom-to-operate, and other opinion work. He has also drafted patent applications from scratch. His experience further includes preparing specialty applications - including micro- and small-entity status, Accelerated Examination, and various U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) pilot programs. He also has extensive experience working directly with Examiners at the USPTO on behalf of client cases.

Additionally, Mr. Rothermel provides services in trademark prosecution and enforcement, including likelihood of confusion analysis, concurrent use proceedings, oppositions, and cancellations. Furthermore, he handles and advises clients with respect to licenses, assignments, and nondisclosure agreements for all areas of Intellectual Property, as well as different types of contracts in support of general business matters.
